Hall Rental Info

The original home of the Woodstock VFW Post 5040 was an old, single family home which was purchased from the Austin family, 240 Throop Street, for $12,000. An addition to the home was started in 1952 that is the main building that we have today.

In 1972, the old Austin house was torn down and a new building that contains an office was put up. This front building has been rented out to different patrons over the years. Currently it is a dentist office.

The main VFW building at 240 Throop Street is a two-level building. The upstairs has a large meeting hall that has a formal stage. There is also a permanent bar for entertaining. A back stairs connects to the kitchen to bring up food and bar items. A small office, storage, and men's and women's bathrooms are also on the second floor.

The first floor of the VFW has a large, formal bar area with TV's and side booths. There is also another large meeting hall with a smaller sized stage, and the formal kitchen where dinners are prepared.

The VFW Post is open to Public and anyone 21 or older can drink at the bar. On Friday nights we have a dinner open to the public. We also rent out the halls to VFW members and the general public for special occasions. For more information, please select a menu item to the left for more details on our VFW.

This cover of this December 1963 issue of the VFW News shows the Austin home on the original piece of property. The new building addition that was put on in 1952 is seen on the right side of the photo, which is also the main entrance of the VFW today.
