Each month, our Post produces a newsletter that is sent to all members of the Post. In it you will find articles related to the Post that took place within the last month or two, the Ladies Auxiliary, upcoming events that the Post is sponsoring, and other information for the good of the order. The Woodstock VFW News was founded in July 1955 by Don Peasley who was editor from 1955-2002. During his tenure as editor, 564 issues of the newsletter were produced. In 2002, Don retired from being the active editor and handed the job over to Matt Klos. Don still contributes articles on a monthly basis when he can, as he is a journalist by trade and writes for several local newspapers.

When Don Peasley was editor, the Woodstock VFW News won numerous awards at both the District (state) and National level. The Woodstock VFW News is a 18-time winner of the National VFW Awards for Best Post Publication contest. It won First Place in 1956, 1963, 1971, 1985, 2007, 2009, and 2010. Second Place in 1968, 1970, 1990, 1997, and 1999. Third Place in 1983, 1984, 1986, 1991, 2000, and 2001. It was voted Illinois VFW's best 34 times including 1999-2001, 2005-2010.

Each year, a VFW Post Publications Contest is held in each District (state). First place winners from the District level advance to the National level where they compete with entrants from all Districts across the country.
